Your pier in Naples in right in the middle of town. Most of first time visitors head to Pompeii first, a 45 minute drive from the pier, to see the ruins before it becomes too hot. Then the choice is between Sorrento and short boat trip to Capri for more at ease day or more intense Amalfi Coast sightseeing with breathtaking views as you drive to Positano and Ravello.
Archeology buffs stay in the area of Naples and visit Pompeii, Herculaneum and Archeological Museum of Naples. For those with kids with too much energy a trip to Pompeii followed by easy and safe climb of Vesuvius volcano is so much fun.
